Lea Cowles Masters Award

Established in memory of an outstanding graduate of Brockport, Lea Agnes Boyle, class of 1917,a gifted educator whose leadership and achievements in early childhood education left their impact around the world, the Lea Cowles Masters Award recognizes a student whose performance as a student teacher at the primary level (N-3) exemplifies exceptional sensitivity, creative ability and commitment for teaching young children.

Eligible students must

  1. Be registered in the elementary education certification program.
  2. Have completed a minimum of two semesters at SUNY Brockport.
  3. Have completed at least one assignment at primary level (N-3) in field-based student teaching practicum.
  4. Demonstrate exceptional sensitivity, creative ability and commitment for teaching young children.

This scholarship will be credited to the recipient’s bill in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant. If the recipient is graduating, they will receive a cash award instead.
