Paul B Hanks, Sr. and Paul B Hanks, Jr. Award

This award was established initially by Mrs. Paul B. Hanks Sr. and daughter, Mrs. Janet Hanks Stauss of East Aurora, New York. The award is given in memory of Paul B. Hanks Sr. a prominent Brockport attorney (1924-1982) who lived a life of service to others. Among the many activities in which he was deeply involved are the following:

  • President and member of College Council 1952-1970
  • Justice of the peace and member of the Sweden town board for 18 years in the 50’s and 60’s
  • Member of Masonic Lodge 173 in Brockport from 1924-1982
  • Developer and second president of the Brockport Kiwanis Club 1932

This award acknowledges and encourages the most promising Senior pre-law student whose academic accomplishments, record of community services and involvement in extra-curricular activities reflect those qualities that made Paul B. Hanks Sr. a highly respected and valued member of the legal profession and community.

Eligible students must

  1. Be a graduating senior in the legal studies minor, pre-law advisement track, or who plans to attend law school
  2. Have a GPA of at least 3.5 or better during their final two years at SUNY Brockport
  3. Have taken the Law School Admission Test (LSAT)
  4. Demonstrate commitment to community service and extra curricular activities

This is a cash award for graduating seniors.
