Reading Educator Emeriti Scholarship
This fund was established by Thelma Vinal Brown, Associate Professor Emeritus; Mary I. Luskey, Assistant Professor Emeritus; Hazel S. Rency, Associate Professor Emeritus and Dr. Frances Moroney Whited, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Education & Human Development. In 2017 additional funds were added to this fund by the family of Ross M. Coxe, Associate Professor Emeritus.
Award #1
Eligible students must
- Be accepted as a graduate student in the Master of Science in Education: Literacy Education Program in the Department of Education & Human Development.
- Hold a teaching certificate in the area of Childhood or Adolescent Education.
- Document clear success in teaching literacy during student teaching or other structured instructional situations.
Award #2
Eligible students must
- Be a graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Education-Childhood or Adolescent Teacher Certification Program at Brockport.
- Demonstrate promise for future success, involvement in professional development and engagement in work outside of the classroom as judged by the selection committee.
Preference will be given to a currently employed teacher at the elementary or secondary level.
This scholarship will be credited to the recipient’s bill in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant. It must be used for educational expenses and may not be received as cash.
