Clark V. Whited Scholarship
A native of Rochester, NY, Clark V. Whited earned his baccalaureate degree from the University of Michigan, his master’s degree &:om Columbia University, and his doctorate from Indiana University.
In 1946, Clark V. Whited began a long and productive career at Brockport. Clark was a master teacher, coach and administrator, one who gave freely of his time working with students. He was known as a ‘task master,’ he expected and received excellence from his students and athletes. During his 37 years at Brockport, he coached varsity baseball for 22 years – compiling a record 128 wins – and enjoyed teaching the skills and challenges of the game as well as coaching the players. Additionally, he was gymnastics coach for four years, assistant football coach for 12 years, athletic trainer for eight years, and assistant soccer coach for two years.
Clark was chairperson of the Men’s Physical Education and Sport Department for seven years, initiated the Sport Science and Sport Management programs, and was chairperson of the Sport Management Program for two years. He was also the chair of the Athletic Committee of Control. He continued his commitment to the College as a professor emeritus, funding two scholarships for students in the Department of Physical Education and Sport and by his involvement in various college programs and activities.
Eligible students must
- Be a full time student in the Department of Kinesiology, Sports Studies and Physical Education.
- Demonstrate a financial need.
- Demonstrate academic excellence with a GP A of 3.25 or higher, leadership, character and sportsmanship in extracurricular activities, volunteerism and service to Brockport.
This scholarship will be credited to the recipient’s bill in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant. It must be used for educational expenses and may not be received as cash.
