Madama Family Scholarship
This fund was established by Mr. Patrick S. Madama, an alumnus from the classes of 1977 (Bachelor of Science) and 1987 (Master of Science), to support an incoming transfer student majoring in Sociology. Mr. Madama established this fund to honor his parents and their encouragement of his college education. As a first-generation college graduate, Mr. Madama also established this fund in appreciation of SUNY Brockport’s regional accessibility and academic quality at the baccalaureate and graduate levels.
Mr. Madama transferred after earning an Associate of Science degree in Liberal Arts at Monroe Community College where he discovered his interest in Sociology. As a student leader he enjoyed applying his understanding of social behavior to the organizations he served to improve.
Mr. Madama enjoyed a career spanning more than forty years in higher education administration at Monroe Community College, SUNY Brockport, York College of Pennsylvania, CUNY New York City College of Technology, CUNY York College and Middlesex County College. He was a leader in many not-for-profit and political organizations where he enjoyed volunteering his time and talents.
