Bessie Walker Browne Award
This fund was established by Mark H. Browne to recognize and encourage a promising elementary education teacher certification candidate whose achievement in pre-certification reading courses indicates excellent potential. The award honors the memory of Mrs. Mark Browne, a dedicated teacher of children and 1927 Brockport alumna.
Eligible students must
- Be enrolled in a teacher certification program in the Department of Education and Human Development.
- Have completed Developmental Reading Instruction and Diagnostic Reading Instruction at SUNY Brockport.
- Have earned an outstanding record in Developmental Reading Instruction and Diagnostic Reading Instruction at SUNY Brockport.
- Be an undergraduate or a student who already has a degree and is seeking elementary teacher certification through SUNY Brockport.
- Be recommended for this award by two or more instructors of Reading in the Department of Education and Human Development.
This scholarship will be credited to the recipient’s bill in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant. It must be used for educational expenses and may not be received as cash.
