MHB Series: Cyril & Gertrude Stanton Hare Scholarship

The Cyril and Gertrude Stanton Hare Scholarship was established in 1989 by Marguerite Hare Browne ’44, Associate Professor Emeritus of Education and a member of the Brockport Alumni Association Hall of Heritage, to honor the memory of her parents Cyril Hare, Sr. (1897-1969) and Gertrude Stanton Hare (1899-1985). This scholarship encourages, recognizes and assists an outstanding non-traditional (age 25 or older) undergraduate student preparing for a career in education at the College at Brockport.

Eligible students must

  1. Be a non-traditional undergraduate student preparing for a career in education.
  2. Demonstrate strong leadership skills and high potential for success in the profession.
  3. Have at least two semesters of undergraduate study remaining after receipt of the award.

This scholarship will be credited to the recipient’s bill in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant, split evenly between the fall semester and the spring semester. It must be used for educational expenses and may not be received as cash.
