Kempes Schnell History Scholarship
This fund was established to recognize an outstanding student in SUNY Brockport’s Department of History.
Kempes Schnell was a member of the History Department, SUNY College at Brockport from 1963 to 1988. He was a meticulous scholar and superb teacher who was recipient of the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. He was a model faculty member who grew continually in his varied contributions to the college community. Always a genial, cool-headed colleague, he notably rendered valuable and wise counsel to students and faculty alike.
Eligible students must
- Be matriculated in the Department of History at SUNY Brockport at the undergraduate level.
- Demonstrate academic accomplishment as evidenced by a cumulative Brockport GPA of at least 3.25 and as determined by the selection committee.
- Demonstrate a need for financial assistance as judged by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) minus any other awarded scholarships or grants.
Preference will be given to a graduating senior who has been accepted for graduate study at SUNY Brockport.
This scholarship will be credited to the recipient’s bill in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant. It must be used for educational expenses and may not be received as cash.
