Flieger Family Fellowship
This fund was established by Mr. R. Scott Flieger to recognize an outstanding graduate student in the SUNY Brockport Department of History who has demonstrated commitment and potential for excellence in the study of history.
Mr. Flieger earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history at SUNY Brockport. Following his graduation, he worked in capital markets and bond trading for several international organizations including Credit Suisse, JP Morgan, Bear Stearns, and Deutsche Bank. Currently he is the senior executive advisor for client engagement, business development and content services at NeuGroup, an advocate for global finance and treasury practitioners. He also serves as treasurer for the Brockport Foundation Board of Directors. Mr. Flieger and his wife Mary live in New York City with their two daughters.
Eligible students must
- Be accepted in a graduate program in the Department of History who is taking at least nine credit hours.
- Submit, as part of the official graduate school application or otherwise, a personal letter describing their career interests, letter(s) of recommendation, and a sample of scholarly writing.
- Demonstrate a commitment and potential for excellence in the study of history as judged by the selection committee.
This scholarship will be credited to the recipient’s bill in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant. It must be used for educational expenses and may not be received as cash.
The Flieger Fellow is selected internally by the Department of History – there is no application.
