Sanford and Jill Miller International Education Scholarship
Dr. Sanford Miller taught in the Mathematics Department at SUNY Brockport for 53 years and Dr. Jill Miller taught in the Computer Science Department at SUNY Brockport for two years. During those years, the couple taught and carried out research at several international universities in Romania, Poland, Bulgaria, Italy, Japan, and China. During those visits, the Millers realized the importance of collaboration with international partners. The couple established this scholarship to assist foreign students to attend SUNY Brockport and to assist Brockport students with domestic residency to attend an international university.
ELIGIBILITY and CRITERIA
Students must:
1. Be accepted for study at SUNY Brockport with permanent residency outside of the United States of America as an international student or be a student with US residency who is currently enrolled at SUNY Brockport and accepted for study at an international university for an academic semester or year.
2. Be enrolled in any academic program at either the undergraduate or graduate level however, preference will be given to students majoring in Mathematics or Computer Science.
3. Demonstrate academic excellence, and the potential for excellence in their anticipated career path as judged by the selection committee.
4. Demonstrate a need for financial assistance as judged by the selection committee.
Applicants will be considered for this scholarship by the Center for Global Education and Experience at the time of application to your study abroad program.
The financial assistance is in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant that may be used to cover educational costs such as room, board or University fees, or as a travel expense reimbursement with submitted and approved related expense documentation.
