Harvard House Award
Informal gatherings of science and mathematics faculty, students, and staff in the 1970s and 1980s at SUNY Brockport became known as Harvard House. Centered in the Department of Physics, the participants collected funds over the years, ultimately leading to the establishment of the Harvard House Award.
This award is intended to further the education of a Brockport Department of Physics student who is interested in all sciences and mathematics as well as the many social and intellectual activities represented on the Brockport campus. The original group created the Harvard House Award to nourish a breadth of interests as well as intensive pursuit of more specific ones by Physics students.
To be eligible for the Harvard House Award, students must have completed at least one year of study in the Department of Physics at SUNY Brockport or be an entering transfer student who has completed at least one year of physics at another institution of higher education. Applicants also must demonstrate academic excellence with a GPA of 3.0 or better in Physics courses at the time of selection and a commitment to a career in Physics as determined by the Department of Physics selection committee. In addition, applicants must exhibit financial need as evidenced by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
