Michael Tenebruso Memorial Scholarship
Family and friends of Michael Tenebruso established a scholarship in his memory to recognize an outstanding student accepted into the master’s in education program at SUNY Brockport and intending to pursue a career as a classroom teacher.
The Michael Tenebruso Memorial Scholarship honors the memory of Mr. Tenebruso, a native of Batavia, NY, who earned his bachelor’s degree in education from the College in 1991. He earned his master’s in education from Brockport in 2000 and received his Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Administration in 2005.
He taught at Elba (NY) Central Schools, where he was recognized as Teacher of the Year, before embarking on his career in elementary school administration, serving first as assistant principal at Attica (NY) Central Schools and later as principal at Sheldon Elementary and Hillery Park Elementary schools in Buffalo before becoming principal at Canal View Elementary School in Chili, NY.
Outside the classroom, Mr. Tenebruso mentored students as a football, golf and wrestling coach, leading by example and serving as a role model. He was a beloved educator, administrator and friend to all that he touched.
Qualified applicants for the Michael Tenebruso Memorial Scholarship will be accepted into the master of education program at The College at Brockport and intend to become a classroom teacher. First preference will go to a full-time graduate student.
