William B. DeCarlo Scholarship
William “Bill” B. DeCarlo was an individual of diversity and vision. His stature was nurtured by his obvious love for his multi-faceted professional pursuits, his fellow coworkers, and the recipients of his labors-the recreation participants and his students. At the time of his death in 1983, Bill served as a half-time faculty member in the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies at SUNY Brockport.
This fund was originally established to provide recognition and incentive to a Recreation and Leisure Studies major who demonstrated an above average academic performance in their major, a commitment to an involvement in furthering the quality of campus life by participation in sanctioned campus activities, and a dedication to a career in the recreation and leisure field of human services. The fund was recalibrated to continue Bill’s legacy and to support students who were studying Tourism and Event Management when the Recreation and Leisure major and Department were discontinued in 2024
