Robert R. Griswold History Award
This award serves to honor the life and work of Dr. Robert R. Griswold, professor of history at Brockport from 1958 to 1975. Dr. Griswold was an engaging and gentle person who fostered an interdisciplinary approach to history, incorporating a number of the social sciences and making use of his extensive slide collection. He introduced African Studies to the College curriculum in the early 1960s. This award was established to recognize excellence among upperclassmen students majoring in history.
Eligible students must
- Be enrolled in the Department of History with junior or senior status at the undergraduate level.
- Demonstrate academic excellence with a minimum, cumulative GPA of 3.0 and as judged by the selection committee.
- Have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours in history, including transfer credit, of which at least 6 credit hours must be taken at SUNY Brockport.
Preference will be given to students with a 3.5 GPA or higher.
This scholarship will be credited to the recipient’s bill in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant. If the recipient is graduating, they will receive a cash award instead.
