Charles W. Baden Scholarship

This award was established to honor the memory of Charles W. Baden, a 1976 graduate of Brockport. Baden was an exceptionally brilliant and outstanding student in the department and a chess master who died suddenly in the fall of 1983. This fund was established by Department of Mathematics to recognize an outstanding mathematics student at SUNY Brockport who demonstrates the same scholarly traits as possessed by Mr. Baden, which includes a love of learning, a creative intelligence, a courageous tenacity, and joyful spirit.

Eligible students must

1. Be a Mathematics major at the undergraduate level and have junior or senior status at the time of applying.
2. Demonstrate academic excellence as evidenced by having a Grade Point Average of a 3.5 or higher.
3. Demonstrate an interest and skills in problem solving.

This scholarship will be credited to the recipient’s bill in the form of a non-tuition educational expense grant. If the recipient is graduating, they will receive a cash award instead.
